When it comes to home décor, many look for that perfect, functional piece to invite conversation and comfort in a modern home. Simple, yet unique designs have the ability to add class to a space and display exquisite taste.
Furniture, industrial, and interior designer Kopal Kulkarni understands these concept, and has taken a creative approach to the modern chair, juxtaposing the name, “Cuddle,” with the flat and firm surfaces used to create the stylish caboose cradler.
A dark brown veneer polishes the gently curved plywood seat, accentuating the grains of wood, as well as adding a classic feel. A white, acrylic polymer backrest encloses the chair and adds a clean, modern touch. Cuddle rests on a stainless steel framework, adding to its understatedly elegant and modern vibe.
Kulkarni stumbled upon this idea while contemplating the outcome of mixed materials. The tongue-and-groove joinery is invisible from the outside, which makes the piece beautifully mystifying.
Cuddle Chair can be included in any room — place it in front of a desk in a study, place a decorative pillow on it in the living room to create a softer feel, buy a few and create a totally unique dining area, or drape a cozy throw on it in the bedroom. Cuddle makes it easy to add unique, eye-catching-yet-subtle style to any space.
Kulkarni has a degree in architecture, and expanded his interests into furniture design over the last few years. The Ahmedabad, India-based designer has a portfolio on behance.net that includes multiple collections of work, pieces in progress, sketches, and an innovative Staircar used to transport the medical patients up and down stairs.
