We at Kukun would like to wish you (and the entire planet) a very happy Earth Day. We’re celebrating by perusing Eco Friendly Houses’ roundup of (what else?) houses that are good for the globe. These structures range from a $35,000 plastic-coated modular cardboard house “kit” to the solar-panel-covered, oddly shaped Fab Lab House. If that sounds interesting, continue your house peeping/Earth Day celebrations by checking out Element House, which records its energy and water consumption in order to make them more efficient over time. And if it’s your own house you’re greening, check out our tips for eco-friendly renovations and how to make the outside of your home pretty and sustainable. We’ll also be giving you the lowdown on sustainable wood flooring next week, so stay tuned.
Speaking of the globe, we’ve been trotting it. We recently took a trip to the Salone del Mobile 2015 in Milan, and whoa! We sure did find some very pretty things, as well as the amazing people behind them. Some of our favorites include lust-worthy chairs in a grape hue from Poliform, and the coolest mirrors we’ve ever seen from Fiam Italia. To see more of the fantastic designs we were drooling over, check us out on Twitter.
While we’re on the topic of architecture, we’d like to congratulate the winners of the American Institute of Architects’ 2015 Housing Awards. You can check out all the fantastic custom residences, multifamily housing structures, and specialized housing – including five Cape Cod-inspired cottages for musicians and the first permanent supportive housing facility in Washington, D.C. – on AIA’s website.
Come across something interesting that you’d like us to know about? We’re all ears. Share your favorite interior design, real estate, home renovation, architecture, and art news with us in the comments, or send us a tweet.
